Because we had a GREAT time doing it last year, and want to Carry On...
There were several comments last year that a 'video game' contest didn't belong at Defcon. We took a little offense to that. Con is about bringing different types of people together, with common interests, that may not KNOW there are people there with those common interests. This brings people together and develops relationships that may have never happened in the first place, but because of this 'video game', people are getting together, there's a buzz in the con air (heh) and that makes people talk and share ideas.
I can't tell you how many people thanked us for doing it. Thanked us for giving them something that THEY were good at and interested in. Not everyone can compete at Capture the Flag, or lock picking. But there were almost 50 people that DID compete at this 'video game', and had a BLAST doing it. That's why we're coming back. Trust us, and every other contest organizer at con, we're not lugging equipment half way across the US for our OWN benefit, but for the benefit of those that want to participate...
